It’s been almost fourteen years since I first banged out the phrase, “their reality has lapped our satire,” right here on Daily Kos. Way back then, it was about “Christians” spending money, not on the poor, or immigrants, but on a recreation of the Statue of Liberty, holding a cross and the Ten Commandments.
There were a few more version before I wrote, “That’s it, I give up. I just give up.” That time it was evangelicals in New York, laying hands on the Wall Street bull and praying for wealth — yeah, the whole “golden calf” thing leaps to mind, doesn’t it?
But today I caught this Newsweek headline and I just don’t even know what to do with it. I mean, if you were trying to caricature the whole movement, what better headline could you come up with than …
