Sorry to be a bother, folks, and ignore if you want, but right now we have a man on the Republican side of the aisle who is actually emulating at least Mussolini, if not Hitler, and there, for the first time ever, I agree that Nazi comparisons are valid.
But what we saw yesterday was a blatantly dishonest screen shot from a video of a guy being a dick, cut to make it look like he was doing a Nazi salute, along with the words, “Zieg heil.”
That part of the diary is a lie, but so many people are caught up in rox/sux that when it was pointed out and flagged, lots of folks uprated “for abuse.”
Can we have a couple of basic agreements, please? Can we stay away from six-letter words that start with “n,” have “gg” in the middle, and end with “r”? Can we not use the word for a woman’s sexual organs that rhymes with what you do when it’s fourth and 17 in the first quarter? Can we use the word for a bundle of sticks properly, and in no other way? And, for Dog’s Sake, can we not LIE about Nazi salutes or use the word “Nazi,” or any implications of “Nazi,” for cheap political points?
And just in case anybody hasn’t visited one of these before, I’ll warn you of what is about to happen. I’m going to show you the cheap bullshit somebody is trying to pawn off as Nazis, then I’m going to show you what a real Nazi looks like, because people seem to keep forgetting.

And just in case anybody wonders why I’m so sensitive to this (as if I needed more than 6 million reasons), a couple of Sundays ago I sat in my 10 year old’s Sunday School class while his grandfather, my father-in-law, told the story of his survival in Hitler’s camps, and the deaths of so much of his family at the hands of the Nazis, including the story that haunted his own father until the day he died — the choice he had to make and live with. He was allowed to pick up and carry only two children to the trains. There were three children.
So yeah, I’m a little sensitive to using “Nazi” as a cheap little gotcha, and if you’re not, well, please give that some thought.
