There's been much to-do lately about Sanders and the non-white vote, particularly the African American vote. There are accusations Kos wrote a hit piece, observations that Sanders has been a life-long supporter of civil rights, plenty of back and forth, etc. But the bottom line facts are very simple. For Sanders to win the nomination, he needs support among the minority community. And for Sanders to win a general, he needs to bring out an enthusiastic non-white community.
This diary doesn't make conclusions about his future ability to do so. Instead, it looks at whether he's done so yet. If the answer is "no," then he must, and yelling at people who point that out does him no service.
Only a few recent polls include details by race, or even by white vs. non-white. Results are below.
Please note, this is not a (ridiculous) argument that non-whites will vote for the Republican. It's an observation that a lack of support among non-whites will not just lead to a loss in the primaries, but will also lead to a lower minority turnout in the general election.
