On July 28, 1988, speaking to the Future Farmers of America, Ronald Reagan famously said:
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
Those words encapsulate the thoughtless knee-jerk reaction of Republican voters to government and taxes. Based upon such trite sound bites, they have a dogmatic belief that government /
bad, while private enterprise = good.
Well, I'm from the government and I'm here to help.
