PPP South Carolina

Cross-tabs aren’t out yet, just the story, but Clinton still leads big in South Carolina, and they’re nearing the finish line. The poll was taken Sunday and Monday, so Sanders’ New Hampshire win is baked into the results.

She’s up 55-34 among likely Democratic primary voters. Among white voters, there’s a statistical tie. But among Black voters, she has a tremendous lead, at 63-23. There has been some improvement for Sanders, who trailed among Blacks in November, 86-11, but there’s far more than a furlong to make up, and far less than a furlong to do it.

On the Republican side, Trump leads with 35 points. Cruz and Rubio are tied for second at 18, and Kasich is fourth with 10. Bush is in the back with Carson, at 7%. Bush is betting everything on a state many call Bush-friendly, but so far, it doesn’t seem to be working. The poll was taken Sunday and Monday, after the Republican debate, so it doesn’t look like the boos in the auditorium are translating into boos going to the voting booths. The kind of Republicans who get tickets to debates may not like Trump noting that 9/11 happened on GWB’s watch, but the kind of Republicans who go to primaries probably remember it well.
